How Chelsea could line up under Ruben Amorim with Fulham raid for Palhinha and midfielder compared to Marco van Basten

CHELSEA could have a whole new-look to their team next season if Ruben Amorim takes charge.

The Blues are conducting an "exhaustive" process to find Graham Potter's long-term successor at Stamford Bridge.

The Portuguese led Sporting to their first title in 19 years when they finished top in 2021 and has won three Portuguese League Cups, two with Sporting and one with former club Braga.

The 27-year-old is currently shining for neighbours Fulham in the Premier League and is attracting plenty of interest - but the 27-year-old Portuguese international could become the perfect foil for Enzo Fernadez.

Another Portugal ace could also come in to bolster the midfield - and it is another man that Amorim knows well.

And that is Wolves star Matheus Nunes, who scored a stunning goal to secure Wolves a 1-0 win over Chelsea last week.

The 24-year-old also played under Amorim at Sporting and if he keeps scoring Marco van Basten like goals then interest will no doubt soar.

Wolves legend Steve Bull told the Express and Star: “What can you say about the winning goal?

“For me, it was the best scored at Molineux since Ruben Neves against Derby. It reminded me of Marco van Basten’s famous strike for Holland in the 1988 European Championships.

“You could tell what it meant to Matheus Nunes by the look on his face. He probably wanted to do about 10 laps of the pitch in celebration.

“If he isn’t buzzing with confidence after scoring a goal like that, then he never will be.”

Scoring goals, of course, has proven to be Chelsea’s biggest problem this season having only got 29 in 30 top-flight matches

We also revealed earlier that the Blues “are confident they can win the race to sign Napoli’s Victor Osimhen” - even without Champions League football.

And that could lead to an exciting new spine to the team potentially under Amorim, who often favours a 4-3-3 attacking formation at Sporting.
