How oddsmakers project certain Red Sox players will perform in 2022

The 2022 MLB season starts in a few days. Sportsbooks have already set over/unders for some key players on the Red Sox. Oddsmakers have also set odds on certain players' chances to win the American League's biggest awards.

Rafael Devers is the player oddsmakers like the most on the Red Sox this season. He has team-high over/unders in homers, RBIs, and hits. Dever has the best odds on his team to win MVP. Aaron Judge is expected to hit more home runs than Derervers in 2021. He also has higher odds to lead MLB in home run runs. The odds for him to be the American League MVP are also higher. It's the first time Deervers has finished in the top 10 in American Leagues MVP voting.

Trevor Story has signed a deal with the Red Sox. DraftKings Sportsbook has his over/unders in home runs, RBIs, and hits higher than last season. FanGraphs and Baseball-Reference have him finishing under 29.5 home run threshold. He's also under-under on hits and under on stolen bases. He finished in the top 10 in MLB in homers, runs and stolen base once (seventh in 2020). The odds of him being an American League MVP winner are higher.

DraftKings has a line for how many hits Xander Bogaerts will have in 2022. FanGraphs projects him for 165 hits in 2021 and Baseball-Reference for 143. Bagaert's career has been on the opposite side of the 157.5 over/under for hits. He had 190 hits last season. DraftKings doesn't have home run or RBI over-under listed for Bgaert’s.

DraftKings is high on Red Sox Opening Day starter Nathan Eovaldi. FanGraphs likes him to have 12 wins in 2022. Baseball-Reference has him a little under at 10 wins. Last season he had 195 strikeouts, which was 53 more than the previous high of 145 in 2014. He has the 22nd-best odds to win the most games in MLB in 2021.

DraftKings has over/unders for J.D. Martinez, Chris Sale and Rafael Eovaldi. DraftKings gives Martinez slightly better odds to lead the league in RBIs and hits. Sale has the seventh-best odds of winning the AL Cy Young. He's 11 short of his 125th career win. He'll miss at least the first month of the season due to rib injury. It will be his first full season back after Tommy John surgery. The 2019 season ended a month early. If he's able to return by early May, he could get the starts needed to reach that mark.
