How Palou's combined 2023 F1 and IndyCar roles will work
The year 2022 was a tumultuous season for Alex Palou. It started as an IndyCar title defence and ended with him making his Formula 1 debut for McLaren.
Palou will drive for Chip Ganassi in IndyCar in 2023 and be a McLaren F1 reserve. He will try to win the championship with Ganassis. Palou has recently started working at the Chip Gansassi shop. He is keen to learn a lot from both the car and the drivers. The split duty has worked out for Palo. It would have been difficult for him to take up a full-season reserve role. His next opportunity will be in 2024. he wants to be part of a big team. and learn more. for the next Indy car championship. in the meantime he is learning a bit from the other drivers and engineers.
Palou is considering a move to F1 in the future. He is currently a Chip Ganassi Racing driver. Palou will not make a decision until he is 300% sure about his future plans. He intended to join McLaren for 2023. McLaren offered him a reserve driver role in 2024. For now, Palu is a driver at Chip Gansciar Racing.
