How to watch San Diego Padres at Atlanta Braves on FREE live stream (4/6/23): TV, time, details, odds

At this rate the Atlanta Braves look like they could win 120 games.

They have looked that good during the first week of the 2023 baseball season, winning two out of three on the road against the Washington Nationals and then sweeping the host St. Louis Cardinals. They return to Atlanta for a 7:20 p.m. game Thursday for their home opener, the start of a four-game series that will air on MLB Network and live stream on fubo TV (FREE 7-day trial), DirecTV Stream.

RHP Spencer Strider (1-0, 0.00 ERA) will start Atlanta’s home opener Thursday night against the Padres and LHP Blake Snell (0-1, 6.23 ERA). This will be the first time Strider has faced San Diego in his career.

Bryce Elder, who was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday, pitched six strong innings, giving up two hits, striking out six and walking three in Wednesday’s 5-2 win over the Cardinals. Jesse Chavez retired the only batter he faced to earn his first save of the season for the Braves.

Matt Olson homered and drove in three to bolster the offense, which has been clicking from the first game. Olson leads the team with three homers and seven RBIs, batting .308. Ronald Acuna leads the team with 10 hits, seven runs scored while batting .370 out of the gate.

Already, they have a 2 1/2-game lead in the NL East.

As for the Padres (3-3), they split the season’s opening four-game series with the host Colorado Rockies and then made a quick trip home where they split two games with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Shortstop Xander Bogaerts has been a very tough out for the Padres, batting .409 with three homers, three doubles and seven RBIs. Manny Machado, who was ejected from Tuesday’s game after a first-inning tiff with the ump over the pitch clock, is hitting .250 with no extra-base hits and Juan Soto has been even worse, his average at .190 with a homer and four RBIs.
