India vs Australia prediction, odds and betting tips for Sunday’s 2023 Cricket World Cup final in Ahmedabad

England won the last Cricket World Cup in 2019

And just like that, the Cricket World Cup has come to its fiery end after nearly seven weeks of play across India. Reigning champions, England, limped to a dismal exit, winning just three of their nine fixtures.

While hosts, India, won all nine group matches, and put New Zealand to the sword in their semi-final in Mumbai on Tuesday. Their leading light has been elder statesman, Virat Kohli, who has notched 711 runs - over 100 more than Quentin de Kock in second.

Kohli has hit three centuries and five half-centuries in 10 innings. Rohit Sharma’s India have obliterated the competition, and will be confident of victory in Sunday’s grand finale having already beaten their challengers, Australia, once already.

India vs Australia Prediction

India’s tournament opened against the Australians in Chennai, so there is a nice rounded narrative to be fulfilled in the return fixture. On that day, India contained Australia to just 199 runs, but were made to work for their win with three of the top order toppling for ducks.

Australia will be confident of repeating the trick - but they will need to hope their star-studded batting lineup turns up on the big occasion. However, India have been equally as impressive with ball in hand, bowling out South Africa for 83 and Sri Lanka for 55.

Mohammed Shami is their leading wicket-taker, and the tournament top bowler too, with 23 from six innings (one more than Australia’s Adam Zampa). He has three five wicket hauls to his name - he’ll be the man to watch. Anything other than an India win on home soil will be a huge shock - they’ve got Australia pegged in every corner.

India vs Australia Odds | Cricket Betting Odds

India are the runaway favourites for victory on Sunday, coming in at 4/9 for victory on Sky Bet. Australia, meanwhile, are 2/1 to win on bet365. Cricket is a funny old game to predict, one lapse in concentration can be costly.

I’m not one to question form, so hedging on Kohli (Tournament Top Batsman) to once again be the Top Batsman at 11/2 on Sky Bet is an excellent shout.

Zampa has been superb with ball in hand for the Aussies, taking 22 wickets, while Josh Hazlewood had the Indian batsmen’s numbers last time out taking two of the three ducks. Zampa is 10/3 on Betfred to be the Top Away Bowler and Hazlewood is 4/1 on 888sport.

India vs Australia Head to Head

India and Australia have met on 13 occasions in ODI Cricket World Cups, with Australia leading the head to head 8-5. The two sides have only met once before in a Cricket World Cup final, when Australia prevailed in the 2003 final at the Wanderers in Johannesburg by 125 runs.
