Iona vs Siena Odds, Lines & Predictions (Jan. 27)

Iona Gaels Struggling to Find Consistency

It’s been an up and down few weeks for the Gaels as they look to regain the form that saw them win seven of nine contests in December. They’ve alternated wins and losses in their last five games. In their last outing, they squeaked by Manhattan with an 84-76 overtime victory.

Playing road games has been a bit of a problem for the Gaels as they own just a 2-3 away record. Five of their next seven are on the road so fixing that issue will go a long way in determining how they finish the season.

By far, the Gaels are the best team from the MAAC according to KenPom, ranking 77th overall while the next highest ranked team in the conference is Quinnipiac sitting 65 places below them.

Iona is just the type of team that could throw a scare into the best teams in the odds to win the NCAA tournament if they make the big dance and square off against one of the favorites in an early round matchup.

They’re solid on both ends of the court and don’t rely on any one player to carry the squad. Three players average more than 15 points per game for the Gaels with guard Daniss Jenkins pouring in 16.3 per outing and leading the way.

Siena Saints Get It Done with D

Siena has been struggling to score points lately, but their defense has picked them up while they’ve put up a 5-2 record this month. In their last five contests, they’ve gone under the betting total four times. Previous to that, they hit the over four out of five times.

Iona vs Siena Recent Results

Furthermore, points have been hard to come by for both sides when they’ve gone head-to-head. In their last 10 meetings, they’ve gone under the betting line eight times. They’ve also topped 140 points, the over/under in this game, just twice during that span.

For the month, the Saints have averaged just 66.3 points per game. To make matters worse, they’re coming off their worst offensive outing of the year in a 62-52 loss to Fairfield. In that game, the Saints shot just 36% from the floor.

Although they’re coming off a home loss, the Saints sport a 6-2 home record so far this season. They have shown an ability to contain their opponents offense on their home court. No squad has put up more than 70 points in MVP Arena against the Saints in the last two months.

Iona vs Siena Pick and Prediction

Being handicapped as underdogs in the college basketball odds can be a source of motivation for the Saints here. The Gaels haven’t really shown that they can win on the road.

In addition, when we look at each team’s record against the spread, the trends points to taking the home side in the Iona vs Siena odds. Owners of a 12-7-1 ATS record, Siena does a lot better against the betting line.

Meanwhile Iona are very streaky in their covers. Currently, they have failed to cover the spread in four consecutive matchups, so our prediction is to take the dogs to keep this close on their home court with a nod towards a wager on the under as well.

Pick: Siena Saints +5.5 (-106); Under 140.5 Points (-110)
