Irish Champions Festival Preview

Day 1 of Irish Champions Festival gets underway at Leopardstown on Saturday.

And we're in for a treat with a fascinating rematch between Derby winner Auguste Rodin and King Of Steel in the Irish Champion Stakes.

Only half a length separated the pair at Epsom, and both are primed for the €712,500 Group 1 1m2f feature race (3.20pm).

The Group 1 Matron Stakes follows at 3.55pm with Coronation Stakes champion Tahiyra, the 4/5 favourite in the ante-post market, tipped to secure fifth win in sixth starts.

There's no less than four Group 1s at the Curragh on the second and final day of the festival with superstar sprinter Highfield Princess looking to win the €400,000 Flying Five Stakes.

Moyglare Stud Stakes and National Stakes precede the stamina-sapping Irish St Leger, which is worth a tidy €342,000.
