ITV Racing Tips: Our best bets for Cheltenham and Lingfield on Saturday

We have our top tips for Saturday's live ITV Racing, which includes a selection in the hotly-anticipated Paddy Power Gold Cup on day two of Cheltenham's November Meeting, while there's also a brace of Listed races taking place at Lingfield. Our in-house expert Steve Chambers has picked out his best bets for Saturday's ITV action, so check them out here...

Stage Star was a fine winner of the Turners Novices' Chase last March, while The Real Whacker was a shock victor in the Brown Advisory Novices' Chase and that Grade 1-winning pair will drop into the handicap sphere on Saturday for a fascinating renewal of the Paddy Power Gold Cup at 14:20. Both are prominent figures in the betting and will be key figures in this event, but both could be using this as a stepping stone to bigger things later in the campaign and they could be worth taking on.

Dan Skelton's Unexpected Party has been all the rage in the betting in recent weeks and is another on the shortlist, but there could be a value player in the shape of Ben Pauling's HARPER'S BROOK, who makes his seasonal reappearance here and shaped with real promise over fences last season. Pulled up in the Ultima in March, that 3m 1f trip proved to be too far, but a drop back to two-and-a-half miles here should see him produce his best and he showed when winning this time last year at Bangor that he's a really smart performer. Off 134 here is he is certainly eye-catching. Carrying bottom weight here, Pauling's charge will need a huge career best to land a blow against proven top notch chasers here, but he's certainly well regarded by the yard and he's one that could be kept off the pace and will be storming home to try reel in the front-runners.

A winner of the Diomed Stakes at Epsom earlier in the year, Regal Reality has been running really well in hot races, but has struggled to get his head in front of late. Sir Michael Stoute's experienced eight-year-old is well fancied to land the Listed Churchill Stakes at Lingfield at 14:36. However, there could be more attractive value elsewhere against a horse that has found it hard to get his head in front and the one to back is FOXES TALES for Andrew Balding.

Already a Listed winner on the all-weather at Kempton, the five-year-old was last seen finishing down the field in the Wolferton Stakes at Royal Ascot, so he will be returning after a pretty lengthy break. Nevertheless, he has some very strong form in the book and with success on the all-weather giving him another notable tick, the five-year-old can storm home to land this prize in fine fashion in a cracking renewal.

There's a real puzzle for punters at 14:55 as some proven chasers like Chantry House, Shan Blue and Minella Trump will return to the hurdling sphere and have to be given a second look, while the obvious form selection is Buddy One, who will have top weight in this contest after recording a decent win at Galway last time out. The six-year-old icould be one of the more progressive runners in this event and is entitled to be favourite, but this could be a race that sees some each-way value on offer.

One fascinating runner is Tom George's COME ON TEDDY, who returns to the track after over 600 days off. He showed when finishing third in the Pertemps Final at the 2021 Cheltenham Festival off a mark of 134 that he is a very smart performer, so lining up off 132 here he can go well. He will have to deal with that lengthy absence and the nine-year-old could be one that is looking to use this as a springboard for a return to the chasing sphere, but he is a very eye-catching runner and at double-figured odds is the each-way play in the race.

Charlie Appleby's MISCHIEF MAGIC was seen competing in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot back in June and while he failed to land a blow in that contest the three-year-old is still deemed to be very smart and he can claim victory in the Listed race at Lingfield at 15:11 on Saturday. A short-priced favourite for the contest, the son of Exceed And Excel warmed up for this event with a win on the all-weather at Kempton Park, so he's shown he can act on the surface and could prove to be a cut above his rivals here.

He will take on some decent sprint handicappers in the shape of last year's winner Summerghand and Tacarib Bay, but that pair are likely to struggle against a potential Group performer in Mischief Magic, who can bound to victory here in what could be a pretty one-sided contest.
