JACK SHORE VS MAKWAN AMIRKHANI LOWDOWN

Jack Shore (16-1) heads to London for just the third time in his career. His last visit was a year ago when he picked up his most impressive win to date earning a unanimous decision over Timur Valiev. That extended his incredible run of 16 straight wins. However, the streak was snapped by Ricky Simon four months later by wrapping up a slick arm triangle in the second round.

Fellow submission ace Makwan Amirkhani (17-8) makes his fifth appearance in the big smoke, in fact, his last two appearances were in London. He fought on the same card as Shore at UFC Fight Night 204 and earnt a ‘Performance of the Night’ bonus by cinching Mike Grundy up in the fifth anaconda choke of his career. That halted a three-fight skid, but he is already back in the loss column getting TKO’d by Jonathan Pearce in July.

JACK SHORE VS MAKWAN AMIRKHANI PREDICTION

The former Cage Warriors bantamweight champion moves back up to featherweight. He is turning into a complete Mixed Martial Artist. He is a tremendous grappler and black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, but that Simon humbling was a valuable lesson.

He moves up a weight class taking on someone who’s last three wins have come via anaconda choke. You have to feel that he has a better fight IQ than Grundy and respects that skill set.

Amirkhani is also a terrific wrestler, but his downfall has been his cardio. So, Shore has to be patient in the first round, fend off the takedown attempts and grow into the fight.

Shore is a better striker and come the second round, he will also look like the better wrestler. We feel Shore’s fight with Simon will serve him well for this fight, respecting the threat of Amirkhani on the ground and break him down as the fight goes on.

Prediction: Shore via Decision -
