Jaguars vs Bills Prediction & Best Bets

After brushing aside the Atlanta Falcons at Wembley Stadium last Sunday, the Jacksonville Jaguars will look to get the better of the Josh Allen Bowl as they wrap up their stay in London with a Week 5 showdown with the Buffalo Bills (9:30 am ET, NFL Network).

In the first of their two London double dip, the Jaguars coasted to a 23-7 win over the Atlanta Falcons, forcing three turnovers and holding the Falcons to only 287 total yards.

A much stiffer challenge awaits this Sunday. The Bills are coming off of a 48-20 walloping of the Miami Dolphins, who were brought hurtling back down to earth after their historic performance against the Denver Broncos the week prior.

Like Miami, Jacksonville is hoping to take the next step towards being an AFC championship contender this season. Will the Bills deliver the same statement they did to the Dolphins at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?

Will London Be Treated to the Josh Allen Show on Sunday?

At the heart of the matchup between the Jaguars and Bills are two players with the same name, both of whom are coming off of huge performances in Week 4.

Against the Dolphins, Josh Allen the quarterback went off. He completed 21 of 25 passes for 320 yards and four scores, and he found the end zone with his legs for the second straight week.

It was his best performance of the season thus far, and he now sits atop the latest NFL MVP odds ahead of Patrick Mahomes, Tua Tagovailoa, Lamar Jackson, and Jalen Hurts.

Current NFL MVP Odds

  • Josh Allen, QB, Buffalo Bills +375
  • Patrick Mahomes, QB, Kansas City Chiefs +450
  • Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Miami Dolphins +500
  • Lamar Jackson, QB, Baltimore Ravens +800
  • Jalen Hurts, QB, Philadelphia Eagles +900
  • Christian McCaffrey, RB, San Francisco 49ers +1000
  • Brock Purdy, QB, San Francisco +1200
  • Justin Herbert, QB, Los Angeles Chargers +1600
  • Trevor Lawrence, QB, Jacksonville Jaguars +2200
  • Dak Prescott, QB, Dallas Cowboys +3300

Josh Allen the linebacker had a sensational Sunday as well. After opening the season with ten tackles and three sacks against the Indianapolis Colts, he hadn’t recorded a sack against the Chiefs or Texans.

But he got back into the sack column in a big way against the Falcons, registering three of them, as well as a forced fumble.

Allen is now tied for the league lead in sacks, along with Khalil Mack and T.J. Watt. He isn’t currently getting a lot of love in the NFL Defensive Player of the Year race, but a few more performances like that will see his odds shorten.

Current NFL Defensive Player of the Year Odds

  • Micah Parsons, Dallas Cowboys +180
  • Myles Garrett, Cleveland Browns +300
  • T.J. Watt, Pittsburgh Steelers +450
  • Nick Bosa, San Francisco 49ers +2000
  • Aidan Hutchinson, Detroit Lions +2800
  • Aaron Donald, Los Angeles Rams +3300
  • Chris Jones, Kansas City Chiefs +3300
  • Maxx Crosby, Las Vegas Raiders +4000

Will he add to that sack total on Sunday? His name twin has been sacked multiple times in three of four games this season, including five times in the season opener versus the Jets.

As for the game itself, the two teams have alternated wins across the last six meetings. If things follow the same pattern, the Bills will bag their fourth win of the season.

Recent Jaguars vs Bills Head-to-Head Results

  • November 7, 2021 (Jacksonville): 9-6 Jaguars
  • November 25, 2018 (Orchard Park): 24-21 Bills
  • January 7, 2018 (NFL Wild Card – Jacksonville): 10-3 Jaguars
  • November 27, 2016 (Orchard Park): 28-21 Bills
  • October 25, 2015 (Wembley Stadium, London): 34-31 Jaguars
  • December 15, 2013 (Jacksonville): 27-20 Bills

While Jacksonville’s offense only really needed to do the bare minimum with Desmond Ridder and the Falcons struggling to make any headway all game long, more will likely be needed against Buffalo.

In winning their last three games, the Bills have scored 38, 37, and 48 points and averaged 416.7 yards per game.

If they have to try to keep pace with Buffalo’s offense, things could get a bit troublesome for the Jaguars.

Trevor Lawrence isn’t exactly lighting the world on fire, and he is facing a defense that leads the league in interceptions (8) and takeaways (11) and is tied for the league lead in sacks (16).

Jacksonville Jaguars vs Buffalo Bills Prediction and Best Bets

Prediction: Bills to win

Best Bets: Bills -5.5 (-110 at Bovada) & Bills team total over 27.5 (-110 at Bovada)

The Bills have been outstanding on both sides of the ball in their last three games, and I don’t see them letting up in London. Josh Allen the linebacker may well add to his sack total, but Josh Allen the quarterback will add to his NFL MVP case and lead Buffalo to a impressive win across the pond.
