Jazz vs. Blazers prediction and odds for Wednesday, January 24 (Can Utah cover?)

The Portland Trail Blazers picked up a much-need win against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday, and they have a chance to gain some ground in the Western Conference standings when they take on the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night.

The Jazz have the No. 8 seed in the West, fresh off a big win over the Charlotte Hornets that moved them to 6-4 in their last 10 games.

Portland has really fallen off after a fast start this season, falling out of the play-in picture in the West. This recent stretch for Portland has been the worst, with the team ranking 21st in net rating over its last 10 games.

Damian Lillard and Anfernee Simons should be able to score easily against a Jazz team that ranks 25th in the NBA in defensive rating, but will that be enough for the Blazers to cover?

Here’s a look at the latest odds and a pick for this game:

Jazz vs. Blazers odds, spread and total

Jazz vs. Blazers prediction and pick

The Jazz haven’t been great at winning games on the road, going just 9-16, but they are one of the best teams against the spread as road dogs at 12-6.

These teams are trending in completely different directions over the last 10 games, with the Jazz ranking sixth in the NBA in net rating and making a push for the No. 6 spot in the West.

Both of these teams have struggled defensively this season, and I think that will give Utah a chance to hang around.

The Jazz are fourth in the NBA in offensive rating compared to Portland at No. 8, and the Blazers are just 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games.

I’ll take the points with the road dog here since Portland hasn’t given me much to be confident in the past few weeks.
