DP World Tour golf hasn’t finished for the year just yet.

A week after the 2022-23 season-closing DP World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai, the European circuit heads to South Africa as it kicks off the 2023-2024 campaign with the Joburg Open.

The co-sanctioned event with the Sunshine Tour offers plenty of South African talent to go up against some established DP World Tour pros in a stronger field with a healthy prize purse.

Sami Valimaki, who secured a breakthrough win at the Qatar Masters at the end of the regular season in October, is in the field and will be among the favourites to win the title.

Dan Bradbury is the defending champion after his fairytale victory in last year’s event.

The Yorkshireman was playing on a sponsor’s invite in last year’s event on only his third professional start, and beat Valimaki by three shots to claim the title and a two-year Tour exemption.

Past winners of this event also include home heroes Thriston Lawrence, Charl Schwartzel and Branden Grace.

Let’s take a look at all the details ahead of the tournament in Johannesburg…
