Sonnboyliston won the Irish St Leger at the Curragh on Sunday. It was the first Classic for trainer Johnny Murtagh. The four-year-old won by three lengths from Twilight Payment. Johnny's stable companion Baron Samedi finished third. The St. Lege was part of the Champions Weekend. There were a record crowds at Irish racecourses. Native Trail and Discoveries had earlier advertised their 2022 Classic claims. Ben Coen is Johnny and Johnny’s No 1 jockey. He has won at Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood this season.
