JOSELYNE EDWARDS VS LUCIE PUDILOVA LOWDOWN

Joseylne Edwards comes into this fight carrying a 12-4 record and she has won her last two against Ramona Pascual and Kim Ji-yeon. Confidence will be high coming into this one and after not fighting since July 2022, she will be hoping she has no issues getting back down to bantamweight after she flirted with featherweight in the Pascual fight and then missed weight on her return against Ji-yeon.

Czech fighter Lucie Pudilova is enjoying the best form of her MMA career after going 8-6 in her first 14 bouts, she has now won six of her last seven. After being cut from the UFC following a loss to Justine Kosh in January 2020, she returned home to fight for a local promotion and her impressive run saw the UFC re-sign her ahead of UFC 278. She beat Wu Yanan via TKO (elbows) and she too will enter the Octagon here full of confidence.

JOSELYNE EDWARDS VS LUCIE PUDILOVA PREDICTION

This bout promises to be one of the more intriguing on the card here at UFC on ESPN 44. While Edwards carries some power and has five knockouts on her resume, her last five fights have all gone to the judges’ scorecards. It is the Czech fighter who is considered the marginal favourite by the bookmakers however. Pudilova has been impressive in the last couple of years but the vast majority of her fights have come at regional level back in Czech Republic. This is a marked step up for her and it is Edwards who is marginally preferred to emerge victorious.

A stoppage seems highly unlikely in this one given the lack of power in Pudilova and 15 of her 21 MMA fights have gone the distance. There is every chance that this one follows suits and the safest play here is backing the fight to go to the scorecards.

Prediction: Fight to go the distance (YES) –
