Kauno Zalgiris vs Lech Poznan
UEFA Conference League Qualification
Date: 3 August 2023, Thursday
Kick-off at 17:00 UK / 18:00 CET
Venue: S. Dariaus ir S. Gireno stadionas (Kaunas).

Lech Poznan confirmed the gap in quality between them and Kauno Zalgiris last Thursday when they bagged three unanswered goals in the first half of the affair on Polish soil.

The team led by Dutch manager John van den Brom then took the foot off the gas in the second half to allow the rivals a consolation goal from their lone shot on target through Antonio Fase.

Lech have big ambitions in the new season and they got off to a fantastic start to the Ekstraklasa campaign as well, claiming two wins in two games.

The latest came on Sunday afternoon in a 2-0 home success against Radomiak Radom. Van den Brom’s men have thus notched two or more goals in each of three competitive games at the beginning of the season.

We fully expect them to prolong this streak on Thursday evening in the second leg of the clash against Kauno Zalgiris.

The hosts currently sit fifth in the Lithuanian A Lyga table with only 7 wins in 23 matches so far in the season.

They do have issues with the lack of defensive meticulousness even against the clubs in the domestic league and they clearly can’t keep things quiet at the back against a team of Lech’s caliber.

Kauno Zalgiris vs Lech Poznan Head-to-head

  • This will only be the second head to head meeting between the two clubs.
  • The first one saw an easy 3-1 win for Lech in the first leg of this Conference League second qualifying round tie seven days ago in Poznan.

Kauno Zalgiris vs Lech Poznan Prediction

Lech Poznan should not have too many problems grabbing their fourth win on the spin across competitions at the start of the new season. They should have a lot of space to create chances in the final third and we expect them to finish the job in the first half of the game, much like they did in the reverse outing seven days ago on the home turf.

The first pick is Lech to have the lead at the half time and win the game at the end at the 2.30 odds. We also like the Over 2.5 goals FT bet at the 1.85 odds.

  • HT/FT Lech Poznan/Lech Poznan @ 2.30 (13/10)
  • Over 2.5 goals FT @ 1.85 (17/20) odd.
