King George Weekend Ascot 2023 Schedule

King George Weekend Ascot Schedule

Before I get to the individual races and their respective start times, you must know how the broader schedule is looking. On that note, the King George Weekend Ascot schedule is set to host two complete days of professional racing. These days will unfold on Friday, July 28th, followed by Saturday, July 29th. As for the number of races held on each day, Friday is set to host six races while Saturday will host eight – including the biggest races of them all. 

King George Weekend Ascot Race Times

Like most of the major racing meets in the UK, all races are set to be held in the afternoon on both Friday and Saturday. And regarding the individual races, their start times, and respective gradings, I’ve provided a breakdown of both days below.

Friday, July 28th Race Times

Friday will see a total of 6 horse races take place, and you can see their respective start times right here:

• John Guest Racing EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes (GBB Race) – 13:50
• John Guest Racing Brown Jack Handicap – 14:25
• Chapel Down Handicap – 15:00
• John Guest Racing Handicap – 15:35
• Slingsby Gin Handicap – 16:10
• Berenberg October Club Supporting Schoolreaders Fillies’ Handicap – 16:45

Of all the races scheduled for Friday, it’s the John Guest Racing Brown Jack Handicap that stands out above the rest. This event is open for three-year-olds and upwards, and the horses must be graded between 0-90 to take part. The race itself is epic too, requiring the horses to cover 2+ miles of track, which is a real test of their endurance and stamina.

Saturday, July 29th Race Times

With 8 races scheduled, Saturday will be a huge day for horse racing fans, and you can see the complete schedule here:

• Greatwood Charity 25th Anniversary British EBF Crocker Bulteel Maiden Stakes – 13:15
• Bateaux London Princess Margaret Stakes (Group 3) – 13:50
• Longines Valiant Stakes (Group 3) – 14:25
• Moet & Chandon International Stakes – 15:00
• King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes (Group 1) – 15:40
• Flexjet Pat Eddery Stakes – 16:15
• Betfred Handicap – 16:50
• Whispering Angel Handicap – 17:25

There are no prizes for guessing which of these races is the most significant on Saturday. Of course, it’s the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes – a Group 1 event that they all want to win. As part of the British Champions Series, this event should be a classic, and major names like Auguste Rodin, King of Steel, Hukum, and Emily Upjohn are all involved. And to win it, they must beat all of the other top contenders over 1m 3f – not easy by any means.

With this said, the other two Group 3 races including the Bateaux London Princess Margaret Stakes and the Longines Valiant Stakes should be fantastic too. The former will be quick and engaging since it’s just a 6f race, and the latter should be an enthralling affair too, with 10 horses down as confirmed runners for 2023.
