Kings vs. Blazers prediction and odds for Wednesday, March 29 (Fade tanking Blazers)

The Portland Trail Blazers are conceding any playoff run in the 2022-23 season, as they shut down star guard Damian Lillard for the remainder of the campaign.

It makes sense given where the Blazers are in the Western Conference standings, and the team is going to get a long look at some young players, like Shaedon Sharpe, to close out this season.

That’s led to the Blazers being set as massive underdogs on Wednesday night against the Sacramento Kings, who have one of the most potent offenses in the NBA.

Portland won’t have Lillard, Jerami Grant, Anfernee Simons or Jusuf Nurkic in this game. Trendon Watford and Cam Reddish are both listed as doubtful.

The move is to fade the Blazers, but can we at this number? Let’s examine the odds and my best bet for this game:

Kings vs. Blazers odds, spread and total

Kings vs. Blazers prediction and pick

Sacramento has the No. 1 offense in the NBA this season, so I think this game has “blowout” written all over it with all of Portland’s top four scorers out for this game.

Since starting to sit Lillard, the Blazers have lost two of their three games by more than 20 points, with their lone single-digit loss coming to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Kings are a much better team than OKC, and I don’t think they risk a loss in this spot with the No. 2 seed in the West still technically in play.

Even with Lillard the Blazers were a bottom-10 defense for most of this season, entering this game with the No. 27 defensive rating in the league.

The backups for Portland aren’t hanging around with this Kings squad tonight.
