La Liga Standings and Relegation Prediction, Odds 2022/23

Real Valladolid and Girona are the joint favorites to be relegated. That is understandable since both sides were playing in the Segunda Division last term. The gap between the top two leagues in Spain has grown wider in recent years, so both clubs would consider a 17th-place finish a success.

Almeria were also promoted from the second division in 2021/22, but the sportsbooks give them a better chance of avoiding the drop. Elche, Cadiz and Real Mallorca are also considered likelier candidates for demotion.

The latter duo survived by just a single point last season and are expected to be involved in the relegation tussle once more, while Elche have one of the smallest budgets in La Liga.

The group of outsiders include Getafe and Espanyol, neither of whom finished too far clear of the drop zone last time out. Celta Vigo and Osasuna should be relatively comfortable in the mid-table.
