Lakers at Rockets (March 15): Prediction, point spread, odds, best bet

Fresh off Monday’s thrilling home win over Boston, which could be Houston’s best of the 2022-23 season to date, the Rockets hope to make it two in a row over historic NBA franchises when the Los Angeles Lakers make their second and final visit on Wednesday. It’s game three of a six-game homestand at Toyota Center.

The rebuilding Rockets (16-52) are worse than the Lakers (34-35) on paper, but Houston does enter with some momentum, having won three of their last six games amid Jabari Smith Jr.’s sudden surge. Los Angeles should also be weary and short-handed, with stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis sidelined by injury and the team perhaps fatigued after playing a night earlier in New Orleans.

If you’re looking to do last-minute betting research for Wednesday’s Lakers-Rockets game, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, money line odds and over/under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet at BetMGM.

The game starts at 7 p.m. Central and can be seen via AT&T SportsNet Southwest (in Houston markets) or on NBA League Pass.

Lakers at Rockets injury report:

  • Rockets: Alperen Sengun probable (left groin strain)
  • Lakers*: LeBron James out (right foot soreness), Mo Bamba out (left ankle sprain), Anthony Davis probable (right foot stress injury)

The Los Angeles injury report is from Tuesday’s game, since they will be on night two of a road back-to-back and are thus not required to issue a new injury report until a few hours before tipoff. However, head coach Darvin Ham said after Tuesday’s victory over the Pelicans that veteran big man Anthony Davis would be held out.

Advice and prediction

The Lakers need the game more, since they’re in the middle of a playoff race while hovering in the middle of the Western Conference standings. Yet, playing night two of a road back-to-back should take a toll, especially with both Davis and James out. Meanwhile, the Rockets are at home, rested, and playing with confidence.

It feels like a good spot for Houston to at least cover, and perhaps even pull off a minor upset.

Prediction: Rockets 115, Lakers 113
