Lakers vs 76ers Prediction

The Philadelphia 76ers play host to the Los Angeles Lakers at the Wells Fargo Center on Monday night. Here’s a Lakers vs 76ers Prediction.

Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers have been in great shape as they've won seven of their last nine games overall and they will be eager to keep it going after sneaking past the Cavaliers in a 121-115 road win on Saturday. Anthony Davis led the team with 32 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks, LeBron James added 22 points with six rebounds and six assists while Austin Reaves tallied 15 points with 10 assists off the bench. As a team, the Lakers shot 52 percent from the field and nine of 27 from the 3-point line as they traded with the Cavaliers in a tight contest all the way until they closed the final 1:39 on an 8-3 run to escape with the hard-fought victory.

Los Angeles Lakers Player Facts

  • D'Angelo Russell ranks 8th in the Western Conference amongst qualified players for assists per game (6.2) this season.

Philadelphia 76ers

Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have been in a rut as they've lost four of their last seven games overall, but they will be feeling much better after outlasting the in-form Thunder in a 127-123 road win on Saturday. Joel Embiid led the team with 35 points, 11 rebounds, nine assists and four blocks, Tyrese Maxey added 28 points while Tobias Harris chipped in with 16 points and six assists. As a team, the 76ers shot 45 percent from the field and 14 of 41 from the 3-point line as they took control of the contest with 36 points in the second quarter, before they held the Thunder to just 21 points in the third quarter to take a 13-point lead. The Thunder were able to rally to within two points, but the 76ers were able to escape on free throws from Embiid with 1.1 seconds left on the clock.

Philadelphia 76ers Player Facts

  • Joel Embiid ranks 1st amongst qualified players for points per game (32.1) this season.
  • Nicolas Batum ranks 2nd amongst qualified players for 3P% (48.6%) this season.

Matchup/League Facts

  • The 76ers rank 1st in the league for free throws made per game this season (24.4).
  • The 76ers rank 1st in the league for free throw attempts per game this season (28.5).
  • The Lakers rank 30th in the league for three-point field goals made per game this season (10.0).
  • The Lakers rank 1st in the league for opponent free throws made per game this season (13.5).

Peter's Pick

The Lakers could be shorthanded here with Cam Reddish and LeBron James listed as questionable, while the 76ers are keeping eyes on Jaden Springer and Danuel House Jr. who are both questionable. The Lakers come into this meeting as the team in better form and it's especially encouraging to see Anthony Davis stepping up lately, just in time to take on the 76ers' Joel Embiid. Be sure to check the lineups before tipoff to check on LeBron's status, but assuming he plays, I like the red-hot Lakers to at least get the cover in what is bound to be a close contest. Perhaps the 76ers get the win, but I like the Lakers with the points in this spot.
