LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The betting handle for the Las Vegas Grand Prix set new records for at least two sportsbooks.

Both Caesars and BetMGM said they received the most money wagered on a Formula One event with this weekend's race.

According to BetMGM trading manager Seamus Magee, the platform took three times the number of bets on the Las Vegas Grand Prix than any previous F1 contest.

Notably, one bettor wagered $200,000 on Max Verstappen at -200 odds to win $100,000. That bet finished as a winner, as Verstappen took home the trophy Saturday.

Caesars said on Friday before the race that the action already surpassed the handle from the Miami Grand Prix, the previous F1 record-holder, as well as NASCAR's Daytona 500.
