Laws Of Indices eyes Hong Kong return

Following his outstanding run in the Hong Kong Mile last year, Annabel Neasham’s Laws Of Indices is set to return to Sha Tin for the prestigious Champions Day event next month. The international meeting features three Group 1 races: the QEII Cup (2000m), Champions Mile (1600m), and Chairman’s Sprint Prize (1200m).

Neasham’s stable also includes stars like Zaaki, My Oberon, and Military Expert, while Chris Waller’s lineup is headlined by Nature Strip, who will be chasing victory in the Chairman’s Sprint Prize, an accolade last claimed by Chautauqua in 2016. Waller’s other entries include September Run, El Bodegon, and Hinged.

Flemington-based trainer Mike Moroney has nominated Alenquer and Emissary for the QEII Cup, while Roch ‘N’ Horse is an entry for the Chairman’s Sprint Prize. Julius Sandhu’s Lofty Strike and Everest winner Giga Kick have also been entered for the 1200-metre race.

Rounding out the Australian entries for Champions Day are On The Lead, Overpass, and Williamsburg. Meanwhile, British galloper Dubai Honour, recent Ranvet Stakes winner, may compete in the QEII Cup.

New Zealand trainer Andrew Forsman has confirmed Aegon’s participation in the Champions Mile after The All-Star Mile run. Forsman stated, “He’s come through the race well, so he’ll go to Hong Kong… It will be a great experience.”

Andrew Harding, Hong Kong Jockey Club Executive Director of Racing, expressed delight at the quality of this year’s entries, as life in the vibrant city gradually returns to normal. The Champions Day fixture at Sha Tin is scheduled for April 30.
