LeBrun: Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen on the trade deadline and Patrik Laine’s future

Jarmo Kekalainen made a number of deals for pending UFAs David Savard and Nick Foligno. The Blue Jackets got a first- and a fourth-round pick for Savar, and for Folignanto, a day before the deadline.  It was as good a piece of work from a selling team as you could get for two pending players who aren't first unit players.

The Blue Jackets are ninth in the East and are playing well. Patrik Laine is an RFA this summer and the team wants to sign him to a long-term deal. Kekalainen is not happy about the trade rumors surrounding Lain. He doesn't want to hear about Patriks Lane's name in any of his colleagues' conversations. He thinks it's unethical. The team is going to work hard to improve its team. They want a winning culture. It's exciting. Blue Jacket's are not boring. Their best days are ahead. they are going for the win. There are rumors about Lainsen. His name hasn't been mentioned in their conversations with other teams.
