Leftovers & Links: Opening 2023 title odds familiar for Notre Dame, Ohio St

Sam Hartman will be the starting quarterback for Notre Dame. Hart is a multi-time All-ACC quarterback with both school and conference records abound. Jack Coan was a typical transfer quarterback, coming from Wisconsin. Tyler Buchner is the only other starter at the position. Conor O’Neill of Deacons Illustrated gives his opinion on Hart.

Conor is helping out a Notre Dame space. Conor is also busy with basketball. Sam Hartman is leaving Wake Forest. Hartmann was a three-year captain. Wake won 19 games last two seasons. The Deacons have six wins without Hartmans. The team won two games this season and four in 2021. They have opening 2023 title odds. Hartman is respected in the Wake Forest locker room. He has improved as a leader since his freshman season. His accuracy on the field is not as good as he's shown. He's only 60.22 percent accurate on passes in last three seasons. The percentage would have ranked No. 75 in country out of 100 in 2022. It's well-known that he watches games in Notre Dame press box. They have plenty of noon kicks. he would be glad if the Deacons’ game was on in front of him.

Wake Forest's offense and general game state are some of the reasons for the team's success. Some of it is attributable to the erratic play of quarterback Hartman. Hart man has had his biggest failures in the games against Wisconsin, Pittsburgh and Louisville. He threw 26 interceptions the last two seasons. Four of those six third-quarter turnovers can be placed on someone other than Hartmann. He has made mistakes in one or two games a season since his freshman season. The Louisville game was unlike the others.

Hartman transferred to Wake Forest. He will play for the team next season. If he is an NFL prospect, he will be a Day 3 or priority free agent. Wake's offense is not considered good enough for NFL players. He wants to find a pro-style system. It's the perception that the offense hinders NFL dreams. The team hates the idea. They hate the reputation that their offense does not prepare players for football.

Wake Forest's fans are mixed about the decision to let their quarterback go. Mitch Griffis is the heir apparent to the starting position. The biggest problem for fans is that Hartman is going to a team on Wake's schedule next season. Notre Dame feels like the best fit. It would be worse if the game was in Winston-Salem. But it's not like Hartmann is seeking revenge. He's leaving with a degree and gave the program five years. John Wolford, Jamie Newman and Hart man had more seasons in the school than they did.
