Letter to the Editor: Doug Daniels, DVM, National HBPA President
The study funded by The Jockey club found that horses in North America suffer EASD at a lower rate than in other parts of the world. Dr. Doug Daniels is president of National HBPA and owns Thoroughbred racehorses. He believes the study is irresponsible and should not be used as basis for any policy intended to safeguard the health and welfare of race horses. i in Australia, the rate of E ASD is 25% of total, with 37% being a result of Exercise Induced Pulmonary Hemorrhage (EIPH). In the UK, it was 0.3% in 1,000 starts.
