Sole possession of first place in the NFC North is up for grabs on Thursday night. Both the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions sit atop the division with 1-1 records.

A combined two points have decided the last two games for the Packers. Meanwhile, Detroit opened the season with a one-point upset over the Kansas City Chiefs.

To accompany our Lions vs. Packers predictions, here are our best Lions-Packers player props for Thursday Night Football (NFL odds via our best NFL betting sites; Pick confidence is based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Lions vs. Packers player props: Thursday Night Football

Romeo Doubs to catch a pass during first Packers drive (+135 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Green Bay’s new quarterback Jordan Love has attempted 96 passes through three games in 2023. Of those, 20 have been directed toward Romeo Doubs, tying him with Jayden Reed for the team lead. Love has connected with Doubs on the first drive in two of the first three games of the 2023 season.

The Lions have surrendered nine total first-drive completions to their opposition over the first three games. Teams are attempting an average of 39.3 passes per game against Detroit, which is the sixth most leaguewide. Expect Green Bay to get its passing game going early against this Lions defense and for Love to look for one of his favorite targets in the process.

Jahmyr Gibbs Over AJ Dillon rushing yards (+110 via BetMGM) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Both teams are expecting their starting running backs to return to the field in Week 4, making this clash the battle of the backups. Both Dillon and Gibbs received the bulk of the work out of the backfield for their teams during Week 3. Gibbs enjoyed the better day of the two, gaining 80 yards on 17 carries. Dillon accumulated only 33 yards on 11 carries.

The Packers' backup has been given double-digit carries in every game during 2023, even with Aaron Jones on the field. However, he's averaging just 2.7 yards per carry, which means volume won't help him in this head-to-head matchup.

Meanwhile, Gibbs returns to being the clear No. 2 back with David Montgomery on the active roster. He totaled 14 carries for 52 yards over his two games as the backup. His edge in this matchup comes from the 4.5 yards per carry he's registering. The rookie has outgained Dillon in two out of three games during 2023.

Detroit Lions Over 3.5 first-quarter points (+100 via BetMGM) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Lions are averaging 5.7 points during the first quarter over their first three games in 2023. Detroit has scored a touchdown in the first 15 minutes during two of those three contests. The Lions own just over 46% of the first-quarter time of possession, too. That jumps to just under 60% on the road. Holding on to the ball and punching it in for six points has been a strong point for the Lions early in the season.

Meanwhile, Green Bay is surrendering an average of 4.7 points in the first quarter so far in 2023. The Packers allowed the New Orleans Saints to reach the end zone on their second possession of the game in Week 3.
