Logician the logical choice and boasting a profile of many a past St Leger hero

Logician is favourite for the William Hill St Leger. He has won three races and has never raced as a two-year-old. Logician's trainer John Gosden believes he is ready for this challenge. The horse's owner, Prince Khalid Abdullah, wants to win the Classic. The distance and the ground are the main concerns. Nine of the last 30 St. Legers were won by horses who had remained at home as juveniles. Two of them, Lucarno and Shantou, were trained by Gosgen. Nedawi and Michelozzo had run only three times. Prince Abdullah wants the Stleger to be a success.

Donnacha O’Brien will ride Sir dragonet. Padraig Beggy's mount Il Paradoi finished third at York.  Capri and Kew Gardens have won the last two Stleger runs. The winner will be announced on the day.
