Ohtsani is scheduled to make $5.5 million in 2022, the final season of the four-year contract he originally signed with the Angels. The award was created by Bud Selig in 1998 to recognize the achievements of Cal Ripken Jr. and Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa. It has been given out to only 16 people. The Angels are expected to be in contention for the next few years.
