The Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Angels clash Saturday in game 2 of an MLB series at Angel Stadium. Let’s preview this game and give out a pick and prediction.

Detroit Tigers Betting Preview

The Tigers look for a win after splitting their last 10 games. The Tigers are 9.5 games back in the AL Central. The Tigers pitching staff is 19th in ERA (4.37), 10th in WHIP (1.26) and 27th in quality starts (39). The Tigers' offense is 29th in runs per game (3.97), 28th in batting average (.235) and 26th in homers (147). Spencer Torkelson leads the Tigers with 130 hits and 83 RBI, while Matt Vierling and Riley Greene have combined for 221 hits and 75 RBI. Sawyer Gipson-Long gets the ball, and he is 1-0 with a 3.60 ERA and 5 strikeouts this season. This will be Gipson-Long’s first career game against the Angels.

Los Angeles Angels Betting Preview

The Angels could use a win after losing 10 of their last 14 games. The Angels are 14 games back in the AL wild card race. The Angels pitching staff is 23rd in ERA (4.66), 25th in WHIP (1.41) and 21st in quality starts (46). The Angels' offense is 13th in runs per game (4.63), 18th in batting average (.247) and 5th in homers (210). Shohei Ohtani leads the Angels with 151 hits and 95 RBI, while Brandon Drury and Luis Rengifo have combined for 214 hits and 121 RBI. Tyler Anderson gets the ball, and he is 6-6 with a 5.36 ERA and 112 strikeouts this season. Anderson is 2-0 with a 2.70 ERA and 10 strikeouts in his career against the Tigers.

Randy’s Pick

I'm not excited to get behind either of these losing teams that have nothing to play for at this stage. However, Sawyer Gipson-Long has just 5 innings under his belt and is hard to trust given hen small sample size. Tyler Anderson hasn't been good with a 5.36 ERA, but he's better at home where his ERA drops to 4.67, and he's allowed just 5 runs in his last 13.1 innings. The Angels are a mess and don't look like they're even interested in playing, but I have more confidence in Anderson than an unknown in Gipson-Long. It's Angels or pass.
