Mage wins Kentucky Derby 2023: Betting broke Churchill Downs records

Betting on the Kentucky Derby once again broke multiple records.

Betting on the 149th Run for the Roses, won by Mage at 15-1 odds in 2:01.57, inched closer to the $200-million mark with $188.7 million in bets from all sources, according to Churchill Downs. All-sources betting on all of Saturday's 14 races reached $288.7 million. Both numbers were records.

Mage paid $32.42 to win on a $2 bet.

Total wagering on all Kentucky Derby Week races broke $400 million for the first time, reaching $412 million from all sources, per Churchill Downs.

Betting on TwinSpires.com also broke records, with $73.6 million in bets placed on all of Saturday's races and $47 million of that just on the Derby.
