Man City star on track to join exclusive group of winning TWO titles in one season after stunning triumph over Arsenal

JOAO CANCELO is on the verge of joining an exclusive group of players that have won TWO league titles in one season.

The Portuguese defender started this season at Manchester City before leaving the club in January on a loan move to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

After Man City managed to reel in Arsenal they are now the favourites to win the Premier League title and can do so this weekend.

Cancelo appeared in 17 Premier League games before his January exit which would qualify him for a medal as he has passed the threshold of five.

Since swapping Manchester for Munich, Cancelo has played in 13 Bundesliga games which is thought to qualify him for a medal there too.

Bayern have not been the dominant force in German football this season that had been expected of them.

But now under Thomas Tuchel, the Bavarians are back at the top of the table by one point with two games to go.

Borussia Dortmund are the club's closest rival ahead of vital fixtures against RB Leipzig and FC Koln.

If Cancelo pulls off the feat, he WON'T be the first Premier League star to do it.

Daniel Amartey completed the feat in the 2015-16 season as he won the Danish Superliga with FC Copenhagen and the Premier League with Leicester City.

The midfielder played 15 times for the Danish side before his January move to the Foxes, where he made five appearances in the league to secure his medal and his own part of the club's underdog story.

He flew back to Denmark after winning the Premier League to collect his medal and celebrate with his former team-mates.

Goncalo Guedes almost completed the feat when he joined PSG in 2017 from Benfica.

His former side went on to win the Portuguese league, but PSG were pipped to the Ligue 1 title by Monaco.

Kingsley Coman has a claim to be in the club as he won the Bundesliga title in 2015-16 after starting the season at Serie A side Juventus.

The Italian giants won the league that season, but Coman only played in one game and therefore would not have qualified for a medal.

David Beckham would also have a shout to be in the group as he won the MLS Cup and the Ligue 1 title with PSG during his stint in the 2012/13 season.

Bayern will likely be shortlived as the club are not expected to exercise their option to buy him this summer.

This has opened the door to Arsenal, with the club reportedly keen to add the defender to their roster of former Manchester City players.
