Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly in line to buy an initial 25 per cent stake in Manchester United following yesterday's news of Sheikh Jassim pulling out of the race to takeover at Old Trafford.

The INEOS CEO initially bid for a majority stake in the club but adjusted his offer for a quarter after no progress was made with his earlier proposal.

Jassim pulled OUT of the race to own Manchester United on Saturday night - after accusing the Glazers of demanding an “outlandish” price to sell the club.

After nearly nine months of detailed negotiations, the Qatari banker has withdrawn his £5bn bid and told the Glazers he is no longer interested in any deal.

Man Utd are yet to make a decision on Anthony Martial's future, according to reports.

  • Scholes backs Bellingham snub

Paul Scholes has backed Jude Bellingham's decision to snub Man Utd earlier on in his career.

"I think Jude Bellingham for his age and what he’s accomplished so far in his short career, he’s better than anything we've seen. We were very close to signing him, but he decided to go to Borussia Dortmund which looks the right thing from what’s happened over the past couple of years," Scholes told TNT Sports.

  • Greenwood future

Mason Greenwood is loving life in Spain — and wants to turn his Getafe loan move permanent.

The  Manchester United striker headed to LaLiga last month after bosses ruled he could not continue his career at Old Trafford following an investigation into his off-field behaviour.

Greenwood, 22, scored to earn a draw against Celta Vigo last Sunday.

He later said online: “Happy to score my first goal for Getafe.

"Amazing team spirit to come away with a point.”

A source  told SunSport he is hoping to stay at the Madrid-based club for the forseeable future, saying: “The players and fans have all given him a welcome he could only have dreamed of.

  • Maguire's snapped

Harry Maguire, it appears, has finally grown sick of getting splinters in his backside.

Finally cracked, after months of keeping his head down and working his nuts off to try and reclaim a regular place in Manchester United’s wafer-thin defence.

Finally his frustration has replaced the silent fortitude which won him such respect for the dignified way he battled to reignite his career.

Unfortunately for Harry, the one thing it didn’t win was the favour of Erik ten Hag. As the months passed, it became more obvious it was never going to.

Which brought us to that media conference ahead of England’s what’s-the-point friendly against Australia on Friday, when Maguire admitted enough is enough.

If he continues to play no more than a cameo role for the club, he told us, then it may well be time to look for another.

  • Fabrizio Romano has tweeted: "Sir Jim Ratcliffe is now ready to buy 25% of Manchester United in the next days after Sheikh Jassim left the deal.

"Man Utd board will vote on 25% stake bid in the next days. Jim Ratcliffe wants sporting control and future major ownership after initial 25%.

  • Fabrizio Romano revealed Sheikh Jassim's final was substantially more than the market value.

But, the Glazers just didn't bite.

"Sheikh Jassim’s final bid was understood to be almost double than the $3.5B market valuation of #mufc. An extra $1.5B investment was planned too," as per Fabrizio Romano.

  • Utd potential

Santiago Gimenez has the potential to lead Man Utd's forward line.

So says Feyenoord legend Willem van Hanegem, who believes he is the Mexican's ideal club.

The Red Devils have been linked with a move for the striker.

Gimenez has scored 12 goals this season in eight games.

  • Ratcliffe deal on

With Jim Ratcliffe's bid now being the only one left on the table, it appears the British tycoon will win the raxe.

The deal proposed by Ratcliffe is for 25 per cent which would mean the Glazer family would remain majority owners.

The Hammers had a £30million bid accepted in the summer, but a move failed to materialise.

  • Sheikh Jassim to withdraw bid

SHEIKH JASSIM is set to withdraw his bid to take over Manchester United, according to reports.

Qatari politician Jassim, 64, was one of two candidates in the frame to buy the club from the Glazer family along with British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe - who wants a 25 per cent stake in the club.

But now Fabrizio Romano is claiming Jassim - who was proposing a complete takeover - is ready to pull out of the process as it continues to drag on.

The transfer expert tweeted: "Sheikh Jassim has had further discussions with Glazers family to buy 100% of Manchester United.

"Sheikh Jassim’s bid proposition has been rejected again by Glazers family.

"As a result — Sheikh Jassim informed Glazers that he’s ready to withdraw from the process."

In fact, Barca's scouts and staff are most amazed with the Japan international out of all of their other transfer targets.

Mitoma has won the Blaugrana over thanks to the way he breaks defences from the left wing.

  • Onana could make Inter return

Andre Onana could make a stunning return to Inter Milan one day, according to their CEO Giuseppe Marotta.

Speaking at the Gazzetta dello Sport Festival, Marotta discussed the possibility of Onana ever returning to the Nerazzurri.

He said: "Anything can happen in football, even if those who return do not always have positive results.

"It was an important experience for him and for us.

He was training with West Ham but failed to secure a contract with David Moyes' men.

Since then he has jetted off to join up with Steven Gerrard's Al-Ettifaq.

According to Sky Sports, he is expected to sign with the Middle East outfit.

But the foreign players' rule means he will not be able to play for the club until January.

Sancho's high wages are also seen as a stumbling block to any move due to Barca's own cash flow issues.

  • Man Utd confirm 2,000 Galatasaray fans were allowed in Old Trafford home end

Man Utd have confirmed that 2,000 Galatasaray fans were allowed entry into the home section of Old Trafford during their Champions League clash.

An investigation into the matter was launched on October 10, with United director of supporter services Sam Kelleher now confirming the number of fans allowed into the ground.

Chief operating officer Collette Roche said many rival fans were turned away, but added they were not ejected because "forced ejection can pose risks".

It was also revealed a number of fans in the South Stand got their tickets through bots online.

Roche said: "As such, our system showed that these tickets were predominantly sold to long-standing official members who have attended other matches in recent seasons, with a large percentage being to those under the age 16, and therefore did not appear in pre-match checks to pose any risk. In reality, those who turned up on the night were adult Galatasaray fans."
