Maple Leafs same-game parlay predictions vs. Islanders Jan. 11: Take the over and Leafs to win

The Toronto Maple Leafs carry a four-game winning streak into their matchup with the New York Islanders tonight.

The pregame narrative: The Leafs are coming off of back-to-back wins against the Sharks, outscoring San Jose 11-2. Toronto can extend its streak to five games tonight but is facing a tougher opponent in the New York Islanders. With both teams' top goalies expected to start, consider taking the under and the Leafs to win at home.

Same-game parlay Maple Leafs predictions

Parlay: Over 6.5 goals + Leafs moneyline + Tavares to score 1+ points (+290)

Over 6.5 goals (-108): The Leafs and Islanders have both relied heavily on their starting goalies lately.

Martin Jones is set to make his sixth straight start tonight, while Ilya Sorokin is expected to make his ninth straight start.

Toronto has fared far better with Jones, who has a .961 save percentage and 1.00 goals-against average over his last five starts, tallying four wins in that span.

In contrast, New York is 3-5 in its last eight games as its starting goalie has struggled to find his game. Sorokin holds a .889 SV% and 3.38 GAA over that span, allowing four or more goals five times.

Additionally, the Islanders haven’t given their netminder much support, as they allow the second-most shots per game in the NHL (35.13). The Leafs just played the team that allows the most shots (Sharks) and scored seven times.

Toronto's dynamic offence should be able to fill the net and push this over the total.

Other parlay picks

Maple Leafs moneyline (-136): The Leafs have been rolling lately and that should continue tonight against the Islanders.

New York is 4-2-2 over its last ten games and has been a much better team at home this season. The Islanders have won just eight times on the road this season, losing three of their last four away games.

While Toronto has performed better away from Scotiabank Arena, they still boast a 10-7-2 record there. The Leafs are averaging 3.79 goals per game at home this year and have scored 20 times over their last five games on home ice.

The Leafs' power play is also operating at 27.1% at home this season, which should be a strength against the Islanders. New York has the fourth-lowest penalty-kill percentage in the league (72.7%).

Tavares to score 1+ points (-186): The Leafs’ captain is up against his old team, which he has fared well against in recent matchups.

In Tavares’ last five games against the Islanders, he has three goals and three assists for six points. That includes two points in their most recent matchup in December, where the Leafs lost 4-3 in overtime.

New York has the ninth-most goals-against in the NHL this season and has allowed five goals in each of their last three losses. In what should be a high-scoring affair, Tavares should have plenty of opportunities to record a point.
