Maple Leafs vs. Panthers prediction and odds for Game 3

The Toronto Maple Leafs won their first playoff series since 2004 and became the betting favorites to win their first Stanley Cup since 1967.

Now, in a blink of an eye, they find themselves down 0-2 to the Florida Panthers heading into Game 3 in Sunrise.

Can they get back in this series by winning their first game in Florida? They’re already 3-0 in the state in the postseason, winning all three games in Tampa Bay in the opening round.

Let’s take a look at the odds for Game 3 and then I’ll give you my best bet.

Maple Leafs vs. Panthers prediction and pick

Despite facing an 0-2 series deficit, Maple Leafs fans shouldn’t lose all hope. At least not yet.

If it wasn’t for Panthers goaltender, Sergei Bobrovsky, turning back the clock and looking like he did when he won the Vezina Trophy in 2017, the Leafs would be the ones with a 2-0 series lead.

They have been dominating the Panthers in every single advanced metric, including high-danger scoring chances where they have almost twice as many as the Panthers.

The Maple Leafs also have the advantage over the Panthers in expected goals per 60 minutes, at 4.25 compared to 2.96.

If Bobrovsky regresses to his normal self and the Leafs can keep up the high-level of play, it’s only a matter of time for them to rip off a couple of wins in a row, and hopefully that time is now.

I’ll back them as road favorites to go 4-0 away from their home ice in this year’s edition of the playoffs.
