Marc Tardif sweeps Maine Breeders Stakes
Katelyn’s Angel (Western Maverick) won the Jake Phipps Memorial at Topsham Fair on Tuesday (Aug. 9). Marc Tardif's trainer, Kevin Switzer Jr., won both $17,000-plus divisions of the Maine Standardbred Breeders Stakes for 2-year-old filly pacers. Pickmepickme (Andy Harrington) picked up the victor's portion of $18,814 MSBS purse. On Monday's card, the opener went to pari-mutuel-busting longshot Wabanaki (Boy Band) who scored in the $ 18,214 MSbs for trotting colts and geldings.

Maine Breeders Stakes continue at Topsham through Saturday (Aug. 13). The remaining MSBS fair schedule is as follows: Skowhegan, Windsor, Farmington, September 18-21, and Cumberland, Sept. 28-28, then Fryeburg, Oct 6-8. The 3-year-old divisional finals will be held in Bangor on Oct. 15. 2-yr-olds division finals are held on Saturday, October 1.
