Marocchino causes huge upset at $101 in the Asian Beau Stakes at Ascot for trainer Lou Luciani

Consistent stayer Marocchino caused one of the biggest Ascot feature race upsets in recent years when defying his huge odds of $101 in Saturday’s Asian Beau Stakes (1400m).

Despite starting the rank outsider and carrying 61kg, Marocchino was sent straight to the front by jockey Troy Turner and staved off a late burst from hot $2.10 favourite Alsephina to claim the Group 3 feature.
