Matt Dunn has big Group 1 fish to fry in Sydney but will be keeping an eagle eye on his big Doomben Saturday team including one which has Stradbroke Handicap aspirations.

The Murwillumbah trainer has Cepheus ($41) in the Doncaster Mile at Randwick on Saturday but also an army of seven Doomben runners.

He believes three-year-old colt Lubrication, who will resume as a $4.80 chance in the 3YO Quality Handicap (1200m), is a star on the rise.

The son of I Am Invincible snapped his maiden status at his fifth run, when last being seen winning the $150,000 Pierata Plate as a $26 chance last December.

"Lubrication is the best horse I have on the day at Doomben," Dunn declared.

"We are looking at trying to head to the Stradbroke Handicap with him.

"I hold him in very high esteem and I think he's potentially very good, potentially a stallion prospect."

Brodie Loy keeps the ride on Lubrication who has drawn barrier three in the race where bookmakers have Matt Hoysted and Steve O'Dea-trained filly Spirit Queen as the $3.

Lubrication has a powerful ownership group which includes Kitchwin Hills, Max Whitby and Neil Werrett.

Meanwhile, Dunn has a pair of two-year-old runners in the opening race of the day at Doomben.

Filly Oceans Of Energy is rated the $3.60 equal favourite while colt Zelgaria is on the third line of betting at $5.50.

"I put them together (at trackwork) on Tuesday morning to try to work out which one of them was the best," Dunn said.

"But there was honestly nothing between them.

"Both of them will run very well.

"It is just going to be about which one of them gets the better run, and looking at the barrier draws that is probably going to be the filly (Oceans Of Energy)."

Dunn also likes the prospects of Sagacious ($3.20 in the 1615m Open Handicap) who returns from racing at Eagle Farm to his preferred Doomben track.

"Back to Doomben helps for sure," Dunn said.

"The only thing that concerns me a little bit is that there is a bit of tempo either side of him.

"The key to him is to find his own speed and not have something try to race him, that's when he is at his best."
