Mattress Mack places huge bet on Astros to win World Series

The Houston Astros are one of the eight teams still standing in the MLB Postseason and that can only mean one thing: Mattress Mack is backing the reigning champions to win it all again in 2023 with a massive bet.

Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale announced on Wednesday evening that he's placed his latest seven-figure wager on the Astros to win the World Series. He placed his $1 million bet last week at Caesars Sportsbook, the official odds partner of Bet.NOLA.com, where he got the American League West division winners at +1100.

The 72-year-old appeared in a video posted to X, formerly Twitter, to celebrate his latest ticket:

Many will remember Mattress Mack as the individual who earned the largest legal sports betting payout in history ($75 million) when the Astros defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2022 Fall Classic. He's now in line to win over $30 million if Houston goes back-to-back after the latest in his long line of seven-figure bets.

Less than a month ago, Mattress Mack wagered $2 million to double up on the $1.9 million he bet on the Astros back in March. He's hinted numerous times that he's not done either — which would be no surprise if Dusty Baker's bunch advances further into the playoffs.

Houston learned its opponent for the American League Divisional Series on Wednesday night as the Minnesota Twins sent the Toronto Blue Jays packing via a series sweep in the Wild Card round. The Astros will host the Twins at Minute Maid Park on Saturday afternoon (3:45 p.m. CT) for Game 1 of the ALDS.

The 2022 World Series Champions currently have the second shortest odds to repeat at Caesars Sportsbook (+450), trailing only the Atlanta Braves (+300). Houston is -180 to win its series against Minnesota, giving the Astros an implied probability of 64.29% to advance to their seventh consecutive ALCS.
