Max Verstappen rules out Hungary GP prediction as he reveals upgrades are on the way

Reigning World Champion Max Verstappen was imperious once again on Sunday, as the Dutchman claimed his eighth win of the season at the British Grand Prix.

Verstappen started the race from pole position for the fifth consecutive Grand Prix, before losing the lead into the opening corner.

Lando Norris got a better launch than the Red Bull driver, which saw the Briton lead the opening few laps.

Once DRS was enabled though, the two-time World Champion breezed past his friend, before controlling the race at the front.

His win marked his sixth consecutive victory, something only four other drivers have achieved in the history of Formula 1.

Whilst Verstappen was once again largely unchallenged, the fight behind him was incredibly close as usual.

McLaren and Mercedes duelled for the podium places, with Norris having finished second ahead of Lewis Hamilton in third.

Interestingly, a different team has finished in second at the last four races, highlighting just how changeable the pecking order currently is.

Whilst Norris finished second for McLaren at the British GP, Charles Leclerc finished second in Austria for Ferrari.

Prior to that, Fernando Alonso snatched P2 for Aston Martin at Canada, with Hamilton having been second at the Spanish Grand Prix for Mercedes.

The podium places behind Verstappen have been changing constantly, something the 25-year-old is finding “very confusing” given that it’s unknown every race which team will be “second-quickest”.

“It’s very confusing to me because every single race weekend, it’s someone else,” Verstappen said after the race, as reported by ESPN.

“I think it is because it’s so close behind that if you get your car in a little bit of a better window, it works on one particular track.

“So, for me, I don’t know what’s going to happen in Hungary [the next race] to be honest, who is going to be quick or the second-quickest.

“The stable factor so far is that every single weekend, it seems like we are on top, which of course is the most important from our side.

“But again, Hungary is a completely different track, we will put some upgrades on the car there and hopefully they will work well.”
