Max Verstappen to join Ferrari
Max Verstappen, the two-time Formula 1 world champion, is currently on track to secure his third consecutive World Championship title.
The Dutch driver has been in exceptional form, winning five out of the seven races so far, stamping his dominance on the sport
Having joined Red Bull from Toro Rosso in 2016, Verstappen has predominantly raced under their banner.
After finishing third in the 2020 driver standings, he claimed his first title in a dramatic fashion by narrowly defeating Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes in the 2021 season finale in Abu Dhabi.
However, Le Mans driver Richard Bradley believes there will come a time when Verstappen seeks new challenges at a different team.
Bradley envisions Verstappen making a move to Ferrari, aiming to replicate the success of Michael Schumacher, who achieved great acclaim with the Italian team, suggesting that such a move would solidify Verstappen’s status as a “true great” in the sport.
In an interview with On Track GP, Bradley stated: “I think that Max is going to end up at Ferrari in a couple of years.
“It wouldn’t surprise me, especially if he keeps winning titles and starts to get complacent.
“People will begin to question whether he is the greatest of all time.”
“Max is the kind of person who would respond by saying, ‘Okay, I’ll do what Schumacher did: I’ll take Ferrari from a non-winning position and make them World Champions.’
“The reason I believe this is because Max is on the path to greatness. We can all see that. He’s on a meteoric rise, currently dominant, with two World Championships under his belt at Red Bull.
“However, we have yet to see him accomplish what truly defines the greats in the sport.”
Bradley elaborated, pointing to Schumacher, Ayrton Senna, and Lewis Hamilton who all showed their ability to win races in substandard cars and elevate their respective manufacturers to positions of prominence.
Schumacher achieved this with Ferrari, Senna with Lotus, and Hamilton with McLaren and later Mercedes.
If Bradley’s prediction holds true, Verstappen’s potential move to Ferrari could provide the ultimate test for the young driver as he aims to etch his name among the pantheon of Formula 1 legends.
