Mazatlan vs Club America Prediction

League leaders Club America are the outright favorites to win this contest. Mazatlan will have their task cut out to defend their fortress.

The visitors will look to extend their twelve-match unbeaten run. However, they were not at their best in their last away match against Toluca. Diego Contreas netted the opener in the 25th minute, but Toluca restored parity through Maximiliano Araujo in the 54th. The hosts were reduced to ten men after Tomas Belmonte was sent off in the 84th minute, but Club America failed to capitalize on the opportunity and settled for a draw.

Mazatlan lost their last home match against defending champions Tigres UANL. Ake Loba and Francisco Moreno were on target for the hosts. Meanwhile, the visitors were more clinical and found the back of the net through Diego Lainez, Nicolas Ibanez, and Ozziel Herrera.

Mazatlan and Club America have faced off six times in Liga MX since their first meeting in September 2020. Club America has dominated the growing rivalry by winning five contests, while Mazatlan has won once.

Club America ran riot when these two sides met in the 2023 Clausura season. The 13-time Liga MX champions scored six goals, while Mazatlan failed to find a response. Jonathan Rodriguez, Diego Contreas, and Richard Sanchez netted one goal each in the first half, while Henry Martin got a hattrick for himself in the second.

Mazatlan have been inconsistent at home in the last five appearances as they registered only one win while playing out two draws and as many losses. Meanwhile, Club America has won twice and drawn once in their last three matches at home.

Mazatlan Will Be Keen on Salvaging a Point

Mazatlan FC will have their task cut out against the league leaders, but backed by the home fans, the club will look to find some inspiration and register a morale-boosting upset over the league leaders.

The hosts will look to take a leaf out of their last win against Chivas Guadalajara and at least search for a point. They secured a stunning 3-1 away win against the 12-time champions to register what was only their second win of the season.

The Hosts Are Set to Field a Depleted Side

Pressure is mounting on Mazatlan coach Ismael Rescalvo as the Spaniard looks to find the strongest eleven as many of his first team player names are on the injury list.

The hosts will be without Alan Medina, Andres Montano, Hugo Gonzalez, Jorge Padilla, Lucas Merolla, Nestor Vidrio, and Roberto Meraz in the next match.

Ivorian Striker Will Be a Key Figure in the Match

Amidst a host of injuries, a lot is expected from the fully fit players, especially in the attacking department. Striker Ake Loba has been on a good goalscoring run lately after scoring three in his last three appearances.

In seven appearances this season, the Ivorian has netted four goals and nabbed one assist. Loba would love to add more to that tally in the next match.

Club America Look to Consolidate Top Spot

Club America is the only team in the current Apertura season to register seven wins after the first eleven matches. Their dominance has propelled them to the summit. However, the Andre Jardine-managed side will be wary of second-placed Tigres UANL as they are only three points adrift of the league leaders.

It also means that if Club America loses their upcoming fixture and Tigres UANL secures a win, both teams will have equal points. Hence, the 13-time champions cannot afford any slip-ups.

New Recruit Leading the Way for Visitors

Club America’s new recruit, Julian Quinones, has taken no time to settle for the club and quickly became the most valuable player. The Colombian has netted four times while assisting four goals. He is the leading goal scorer and has the most assists for the club.

Brian Rodriguez will be another key player for the visitors, as he has made his presence known with four goals and one assist.

Injury Concerns Loom Large for Visitors

Quinones has been well supported by Chilean midfielder Diego Valdes, who has netted five times and assisted twice. However, he is doubtful for the upcoming fixture after picking up a muscle injury in the last week of September.

The club will also continue to miss out on the services of their prolific center-back Israel Reyes. The Mexican has been out of action since the beginning of September due to a hamstring injury.
