Park Palace Ponies is an inspirational riding school providing affordable lessons and building up the confidence of 5,000 children in South Liverpool. The school was founded by teacher Bridget Griffin, 26, dad Keith Hackett and directors Paul Hayward, Pauline Hayward and Michaela Walsh.

Russell Jones broke his ankle and needed crutches. His dog Billy started limping too. Billy's owners spent £300 on vet bills to find out what was wrong with him. A video of Billy limming with Russell went viral.

Breaking the Chains was set up in 2020 to come to the rescue of animals around the world. It is run by a group of British Army veterans and partners with War Paws and DogBus to resupply and rebuild shelters and reunite pets with refugee families.

Reggie the springer spaniel puppy spent 34 hours stuck in a crevice in the forest near Swansea, Wales. He was rescued by two drainage engineers. He will be awarded the best rescue award at the Mirror People's Pet Awards 2022.

Mary Wakeham's charity, Refuge4Pets, received a special award for their work. They provide foster care for pets and free advice, veterinary treatment, pet food and bedding.
