Meet the 2022 All-Livingston County football defense

Hartland's Cox is a two-way starter and second in the county in tackles among defensive linemen with 61. Cox also shared the lead with 13 tackles for losses and four sacks.

Luke Dibert is a senior defensive lineman at Hartland High School. He had 64 tackles, which is tops among defensive linemen in Livingston County.

Bobby Kanka is a sophomore defensive lineman at Howell. He had 36 tackles, seven for losses and forced two fumbles last season. Kankas missed the final three games with an injury.

Nick Thalacker is a senior defensive lineman at Brighton. He made 23 tackles, seven for losses and two sacks this season. Thaler made one of the biggest plays of Brighton's season when he blocked a potential game-tying field goal with 26 seconds left in a 17-14 victory over Northville.

Griffin Bell returned from a torn anterior cruciate ligament to have a huge senior season. Bell had 65 tackles, nine tackles for losses and three sacks. He was an academic all-state selection.

Hunter Harding is a senior at Brighton. He was an all-region and first-team all county selection the last two seasons. Harding had 98 tackles as a junior and 12 tackles for losses and four sacks as his senior season.

Chase Kern is a senior linebacker at Hartland High School. Kern was the leading tackler in Livingston County each of the past two seasons. He has made all-region and first-team all county each year.

Kraft made the all-region team after finishing second in Livingston County with 106 tackles as a junior. He led the Highlanders with 57 tackles.

Cavanaugh was a hybrid defender who played outside linebacker and safety. He was fourth in the county with 73 tackles and 10 tackles for losses. Cavanaugh also had two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

John Lovich is a senior defensive back at Howell High School. He was named all-region and first-team all county as a junior and senior. Lovic was second-leading tackler each of the last two seasons.

Andrew Stewart is a repeat first-team all-county selection at Brighton. He had 49 tackles and a fumble recovery this season. Stewart added 25 pounds of muscle and got a couple offers.

Velarde made 68 tackles, including seven for losses, picked off one pass, broke up six passes and recovered a fumble.

Grant Hetherton is a junior punter at Brighton. He was an effective rugby-style kicker who led the county with an average of 39.7 yards per punt.
