MLB All-Star Game: Preview, odds and picks

There’s only one game on the schedule tonight, as the 2023 MLB All-Star Game takes center stage. Baseball will strut its stuff in Seattle, as the National League and American League meet in the annual battle between leagues.

Sportsbooks in Michigan are offering odds on the All-Star Game, and you’ll also find many prop bets for this midsummer classic. The AL is favored to win the game. Historically, the AL holds a 47-43-2 edge in competition. The AL has won the last nine games, which is actually not even the record: from 1972 to 1982, the NL won 11 straight.

As you prepare to bet on the All-Star Game, make sure you’re aware of the best MLB sportsbooks so you can take advantage of all their promotions for the game tonight.

The starting pitchers for the MLB All-Star Game are Zac Gallen for the visiting NL, and Gerrit Cole for the AL. Both are making their first start in the classic game.

But, the All-Star Game isn’t like other games: you won’t see those starters throw very many pitches. It will be unusual if either starter gets more than six outs.

None of the Michigan sportsbooks we checked are offering player props pregame for the 2023 All-Star Game. That’s because the player usage for this special game is unpredictable. The managers could try to use as many players on the roster as possible, which would make it hard for any player to put up big numbers.

Instead, it’s important to look at game-level odds and pricing for opportunities to add winnings to your bottom line.

Even with the AL dominating the All-Star Game for many years, it’s difficult to predict a winner for this game. If you think the AL will win an eighth straight, you will need to bet $116 to win $100 from FanDuel.

Instead, we suggest the run line. The UNDER has hit in 13 of the last 16 All-Star games. That’s because each team has a load of great pitchers, and some of them are pitchers the opposing batters in the other league haven’t seen a lot. We like a wager on the under of 7.5 runs with odds of -120. Look for a low-scoring game, maybe even extra-innings.

You are unlikely to see player props for the MLB All-Star Game before the contest begins. Once it’s underway, you should be able to find odds for the game MVP, and live betting options, possibly a player to hit a home run, for example. Consult your favorite sportsbook app to see odds for the All-Star Game.

FanDuel MI sportsbook is offering its newly minted 10x your first bet offer. Win or lose, you’ll get reimbursed 10x the value of your first bet, up to $200. A $20 bet will get you the maximum value on this promo from FanDuel Sportsbook.
