MLB odds: Astros-Athletics prediction, odds and pick

The Oakland Athletics host the Houston Astros for two games in the 3-game series. The A’s won the first game at home thanks to a strong performance from the pitcher Jake Odorizzi.

The Astros are starting Luis Garcia. Garcia has been excellent this season with an (8-5) record and 3.65 ERA in 93.2 innings. The Astros almost came from behind to beat the Athletics last night but they lost by two runs. Michael Brantley is injured. Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman, and Yordan Alvarez should get the scoring going for the Astros.

Frankie Montas is the A's top starter with a 3.16 ERA in 99.2 innings this season. Monta's last start was against the Detroit Tigers and he pitched three innings. The last time he made a regular start for the Athletics was on June 28 against Yankees.

The A's saw their offense come alive against the Astros last night. They need to take out their pitcher as early as possible in Game 2. The A’s have inconsistent production all year. Nobody in the lineup has a respectable batting average.
