MLB Twitter reacts to Cincinnati Reds General Manager stating he would consider trading Joey Votto to Toronto Blue Jays: "Bring. Him. Home."

Joey Votto is an absolute legend of the Cincinnati Reds franchise, but they would be open to sending him to the Toronto Blue Jays. According to their general manager Nick Krall, the team would consider the trade if they are out of the playoff race and Votto requests the move. While there has been no indication that Votto is looking to be traded, it is not an impossibility at this point.

Joey Votto has spent the entirety of his 16, soon-to-be 17-year MLB career with the Cincinnati Reds. This level of loyalty to a team is incredibly rare, especially in the modern era. It was made clear via the question posed that the Reds would only consider trading him if Votto requested it. After so many years, he clearly has the respect and support of his organization.

Jim Bowden of CBS Sports reported the comments from Nick Krall on Twitter.

Votto has racked up numerous individual accolades, including six All-Star selections and an MVP award. If he does want to leave the team he spent his whole career with, it would have to be for a good reason. He has ostensibly been the face of the Cincinnati Reds franchise since winning MVP in 2010. However, fans cannot get over the prospect of him playing for his hometown team.

The Toronto Blue Jays will be in the championship hunt all season long and would benefit from Votto's experience and ability. Assuming this deal happens around the trade deadline, the Blue Jays may be in need of him. If their offseason moves don't work the way they hoped, the team will be in desperate need of another strong offensive player.

A player like Joey Votto going to the Toronto Blue Jays at the twilight of his career would make for an incredible narrative. Especially if the team goes on a playoff run to the World Series.

Toronto Blue Jays fans would love to see Joey Votto on their team this year.

Would Joey Votto be a needle-mover for the Toronto Blue Jays?

The Blue Jays are already considered to be one of the top teams in MLB, thanks in large part to their offense. Votto may provide a boost or give the team better depth, but he would not shift their championship odds. His impact in the clubhouse could be far more impactful than his impact on the field, but that is hard to quantify.

The dream so many Blue Jays fans have had could come true this year, if Joey Votto shares the dream.
