Monday Scramble: What to watch for as U.S. enters as massive Presidents Cup favorites

The International team is playing against the U.S. team at a team-friendly ballpark in front of partisan fans. The U.,S., and International are world-ranking 12.08 and 47.91.

The 14th edition of the Presidents Cup is set for Sept. 22-25 at Quail Hollow. The U.S. team is considered to be the favorites.

Tom Kim is a rookie who has had a good season. He's played seven weeks in a row and had to bow out of the FedExCup playoffs after the second leg. International team needs him to play at least four matches, possibly five.

The U.S. team is considered to be the favourites for the Presidents Cup. Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns are going to play together. It's Burns' first time playing in a team event since the Arnold Palmer Cup in 2012.

Horschel made a U.S. team for the first time since the 2007 Walker Cup. Homa won twice last season and wants to show everyone he's at the top of his game now. Max didn't reach the 18th green in the final round. He was leading by a shot. U S are considered the favourites.

Homa won his fifth tournament in a row. Robert MacIntyre won the tournament. Marco Simone will host the Ryder Cup in 2023.   The course is not the greatest, but it should provide a proper setting for the biennial matches. The next stop is Charlotte. It's a tough course, with a lot of par 4s. Rory McIlroy, Victor Perez and Lucas Herbert are in the top 5. There are also young players who could be good enough to replace the Westwood-Poulter-Garcia era. They could also be the Hogjaard twins.

Cam Smith won his first tournament on the new LIV Tour. He earned another $4 million. Smith has won the Masters, Open and Players this year. He felt more pressure at his debut in Boston than at any other tournament this season.

Rory McIlroy is closing in on Scottie. He was a shot off the lead heading into the final round of the Italian Open and wound up fourth. Since the Masters, he has finished worse than 19th just once.

Willett and Lower were not eligible for FedExCup points, but they were made full-fledged members after the Tour Championship. Fowler tied for sixth in Napa, his first top-10 since 2021 CJ Cup. He's also working with a new caddie, Ricky Romano, and with swing coach Butch Harmon.

Phil Mickelson wants the PGA Tour to reach some resolution with the LIV league. Mickelsons bosses have joined the antitrust lawsuit against the Tour.

Brooks Koepka has joined LIV tour. He was requested following the second round. Caddies are treated better on the Liv tour than on PGA Tour.
