Montrealer Antoine Gélinas-Beaulieu earns special speed skating medal in Calgary

Antoine Gelinas-Beaulieu won his first individual World Cup long track speed skating medal on Sunday afternoon at the Olympic Oval.

Antoine Gelinas-Beaulieu won bronze in the men's 1,000m at the World Cup in Calgary. It was his first individual World cup medal in five years. Laurent Dubreuil won gold in 500m on Saturday. Hein Otterspeer won the gold medal. He was .02 seconds faster than Dubrutil. Dubrerut got silver in that distance at 2022 Winter Olympics. Gelinaus- beaulie is an asthmatic. He had problems acclimating to the high altitude. The next World Cups are in Alberta and in Vancouver. His team is training in Canada.
