Morgiana Hurdle and Punchestown highlights
Willie Mullins has won the Morgiana Hurdle 11 times in total and 10 times since 2011. The only defeat was in 2020, when Abacadabras beat Saint Roi by a neck. This weekend is the Unibet Morgian Hurry in memory of Michael Rafferty.
Morgiana Hurdle is taking place on Saturday. There are six entries: Saldier, Sharjah, State Man, Sir Gerhard, Vauban and Echoes In Rain. Willie Mullins is set to run three of them. The established order is against the young pretenders. Last year, the market saw sense and the two Mullin's runners flip-flopped. This year there is less disparity between the Willie's Sophomore and Senior horses. State man has questions to answer. He has raced just five times over hurdles. Sharah is a top class hurdler, but he is nine now and hasn't seen the race since last December. Saldo won the Grade 3 Horse & Jockey Hotel HURDLE at Tipperary in October last year.
