MotoGP™ guide: Everything you need to know

This year's MotoGP season is going to be the closest in history. The top 18 riders were separated by less than a second during testing.

The season-opening Gran Premio de España takes place in Jerez this weekend. The main event takes places on Sunday. MotoGP is the premier class of two-wheeled racing. Support classes Moto2 and Moto3 are for unruly teenagers. The current technical rules have been honed to perfection. They produce some of the closest fights in motorsport. There are some questions that riders might not be sure of. Marc Márquez is eight-time champion and Valentino Rossi is iconic figure.

Marc Márquez is the current world champion. Andrea Dovizioso is a potential challenger. Maverick Viñales and Fabio Quartararo are also potential title contenders. Suzuki have a new threat from Álex Rins.

Valentino Rossi and Red Bull KTM are the favourites to win the MotoGP™ title this season. Aprilia and Aprili have made big steps over the winter and will be looking to get into the fight.

The 2020 MotoGP is a championship with 10 potential race winners and a realistic chance of everyone scoring podiums. Half the riders are world champions and the oldest bike was a race winner last year. Last year's champion was not made easy by a dozen riders trying to dethrone him.

The start of this season's MotoGP™ was delayed. Some of the sport's top riders took to virtual tracks over the past couple of months. Álex Márquez got to ride alongside his brother for the first time ever in the top flight.
